SAP SD Consultant (Freelance/Contractor)

The global engineering and manufacturing organisation is partnering with Discover to recruit an experienced Freelance SAP SD Consultant for its SAP transformation programme.


About the Role

Join an established SAP team, where you’ll make a critical contribution to enhancing and supporting SAP Sales & Distribution (SAP SD) processes across a complex international business. Your role will focus on:

  • Delivering functional improvements
  • Driving optimisation initiatives
  • Supporting the rollout of SAP S/4HANA capabilities

This opportunity offers a long-term freelance position within a globally recognised organisation at the forefront of innovation in manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and optimise SAP SD to align with evolving business needs.
  • Gather and analyse requirements through collaborative workshops with key stakeholders.
  • Assess SAP S/4HANA transformation and contribute to continuous improvement strategies.
  • Partner closely with business teams across Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics.
  • Work with cross-functional SAP teams, including MM (Materials Management), PP (Production Planning), FI/CO (Financial Accounting/Management Accounting), and EWM (Extended Warehouse Management).
  • Develop functional specifications as needed and support development efforts.
  • Lead testing activities, including SIT (System Integration Testing), UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and defect resolution.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in SAP SD configuration across core processes.
  • Hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation programmes.
  • Strong grasp of Order-to-Cash (OTC) workflows.
  • Familiarity with SAP integrations, especially between SD, MM, FI/CO, and Logistics.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills. -Bonus, but highly advantageous: Background in manufacturing or engineering.

  • Rate: £650 – £730 per day.
  • Location: Greater Manchester.
  • Hybrid working: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office.
