SAP Finance Solution Architect

The SAP Finance Solution Architect is responsible for defining, governing, and assuring the end-to-end SAP Finance solution design across complex enterprise landscapes. As part of client undertaking multiple new SAP and Business projects, enhancements, and change requests, which underpin a large complex central government body.

As a key part of the functional architecture for Finance processes and SAP modules focused around SAP Tax and Revenue Management, FI-CA, PSCD, BRIM, and core FICO, your role will be ensuring alignment between business strategy, regulatory requirements, SAP capabilities, and integration standards and the ability to lead and translate complex business requirements into robust functional designs, ensuring high-quality implementation across the full delivery lifecycle.

This role acts as the Finance design authority, bridging business stakeholders, programme leadership, and technical architecture teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Define and maintain the Finance domain target architecture.
  • Own architectural decisions across SAP FI, CO, FI-CA, and BRIM Finance components.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, compliant, audit-ready, and future-proof.
  • Maintain alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

Finance Process Architecture

  • Architect end-to-end Finance processes, including:

    • Record-to-Report (R2R), Contract accounting FI-CA.
    • Regulatory and audit requirements.
    • Collections and Revenue Management processes.
  • High-volume transaction models financial Accounting (FI-GL, AP, AR, AA, Banking).

  • FI-CA (subledger and mass transaction processing).

  • SAP BRIM Finance integration (CI → FI-CA → FI-GL).

Governance & Assurance

  • Establish Finance architecture principles, standards, and guardrails.
  • Chair or contribute to Design Review Boards.
  • Manage architectural risks, dependencies, and design decisions.
  • Ensure consistent design across programmes and releases.

Essential

  • Senior experience across SAP Finance architecture – 15 Years + Lead and Solution level experience, leading complex SAP environment programmes.
  • Deep functional expertise in SAP FI and CO.
  • Strong experience with FI-CA in high-volume environments.
  • Solid understanding of SAP BRIM financial integration.
  • Experience on large-scale SAP transformations.
  • Strategic thinker with strong solution ownership.
  • Excellent communication at executive level.
  • Ability to challenge and influence constructively.
  • Strong decision-making and risk management capability.

Role Overview

The SAP ECC FICO / FI-CA Consultant is responsible for the design, configuration, support, and optimisation of SAP Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Contract Accounts Receivable & Payable (FI-CA), and SAP BRIM-related financial processes.

The role supports end-to-end bill-to-cash and record-to-report processes, ensuring accurate financial postings, compliance, and seamless system integration in high-volume transactional environments.

Key Responsibilities

SAP FICO

  • Configure and support Business Partner, Contract Accounts, and transaction processing.
  • Manage high-volume postings, payments, returns, and clearing.
  • Configure dunning, interest calculation, write-offs, and instalment plans.
  • Manage FI-CA to FI-GL reconciliation.
  • Support collections and dispute management processes.

SAP FI-CA

  • Configure and support Business Partner, Contract Accounts, and transaction processing.
  • Manage high-volume postings, payments, returns, and clearing.
  • Configure dunning, interest calculation, write-offs, and instalment plans.
  • Manage FI-CA to FI-GL reconciliation.
  • Support collections and dispute management processes.

SAP BRIM (Financial Integration)

  • Support Convergent Invoicing (CI) integration with FI-CA.
  • Ensure correct revenue postings, deferred revenue, and accruals.
  • Reconcile BRIM billing data with FI-CA and FI-GL.
  • Collaborate with CRM, Convergent Charging, and external billing systems.
  • Support subscription and usage-based revenue models.

Integration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with business, IT, and technical teams.
  • Translate business requirements into functional solutions.
  • Support integration testing (SIT/UAT) and issue resolution.
  • Provide post-go-live and BAU support.

Essential

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in SAP ECC FI & CO.
  • Hands-on experience with FI-CA.
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Experience in high-volume transactional environments.
  • End-to-end implementation and support lifecycle exposure.

Desirable

  • SAP BRIM experience (CI and financial integration).
  • Background in Utilities, Telecoms, or Subscription-based businesses.
  • Integration knowledge with CRM, IS-U, SD, MM.
  • SAP certification in FI or FI-CA.
