Project Engineer (SCADA & Manufacturing Systems) – Broughton, Fully Onsite

Job Summary

We’re seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Broughton, supporting a large-scale manufacturing systems improvement programme—encompassing SCADA upgrades, factory process optimisation, and LBIP-aligned methodology. The role blends remote engineering with onsite support in a high-integrity production environment.

  • Location: Broughton
  • Working Arrangement: Fully Onsite
  • Clearance: Clearable
  • Experience Level: Junior – Mid

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Generation

    • Engage with operational teams to clarify SCADA and process needs
    • Review documentation and system archives to define upgrade requirements
  • Technical Specification & Procurement

    • Draft specifications for IT components, tooling, and jigs
    • Oversee supplier management: raise POs, assist with deliverables, and track technical progress

  • Onsite Support & Validation

    • Assist in commissioning and troubleshooting within factory environments
    • Validate process improvements and technical deployments
  • Project Coordination & Improvement

    • Align stakeholders on project actions and timelines
    • Chase updates, ensure corrective actions are completed
    • Apply LBIP methodology to drive continuous manufacturing improvements

Qualifications & Skills

Required

Experience & Skills

  • Proven SCADA/industrial automation expertise (hands-on work with control or automation systems)
  • Factory or high-integrity production environment experience
  • Ability to write clear, structured technical specifications (tooling, jigs, IT systems)
  • Supplier coordination (raising purchase orders, managing technical deliverables)
  • Documentation review (analysing system archives, schematics, process materials)
  • Onsite troubleshooting & commissioning support (troubleshoot issues, validate fixes)
  • Project coordination (task prioritisation, stakeholder alignment, action tracking)
  • Strong communication with operational teams to gather and translate requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience

Desirable

  • Industrial IT knowledge (networks, interfaces, system architecture)
  • Familiarity with LBIP or lean methodology for process improvement
  • PLC/HMI/automation controls background
  • Process optimisation experience (identifying inefficiencies, proposing solutions)
  • Strategic stakeholder management (operations, engineering, suppliers)
  • Problem-solving mindset: proactive, analytical, and solution-focused
