SCADA Project Engineer

Project Engineer – Manufacturing Systems Improvement (SCADA & Process Optimisation) Location: Broughton • On Site: Fully Onsite • Clearance: Clearable

About the Role

Join our team in Broughton to support a large-scale manufacturing systems improvement programme, focusing on:

  • SCADA upgrades
  • Factory process optimisation
  • LBIP-aligned methodology implementation

The role blends remote engineering work with onsite support in a high-integrity production environment. Ideal for engineers seeking hands-on experience in industrial systems, process automation, and operational improvements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with operational teams to understand, capture, and refine SCADA and process requirements
  • Review documentation and system archives to identify upgrade needs and define technical specifications
  • Write clear, structured technical specifications for IT-related components, tooling, and jigs
  • Manage supplier collaborations:
    • Raise purchase orders (POs)
    • Track progress
    • Oversee technical deliverables
  • Support onsite commissioning and troubleshooting in factory environments
  • Coordinate project actions, chasing updates and ensuring corrective work is completed on time
  • Contribute to LBIP methodology and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot issues, validate fixes, and support deployments

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience

Required Skills

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, including industrial control or automation systems
  • Background in manufacturing/industrial environments, with on-floor or high-integrity operational experience
  • Strong ability to write structured technical specifications for tooling, IT systems, and process changes
  • Experience in supplier coordination, including PO raising, deliverable tracking, and technical oversight
  • Familiarity with documentation review, including system archives and process manuals
  • Onsite commissioning support expertise, capable of troubleshooting, validating fixes, and deployment assistance
  • Project coordination skills, including action tracking, stakeholder alignment, and task closure
  • Strong written and verbal communication with operational and engineering teams

Desirable Skills

Additional strengths include:

  • Industrial IT knowledge: networks, servers, interfaces, and system architecture
  • Familiarity with LBIP or lean-based structured methodologies
  • Automation/controls experience: PLCs, HMIs, or related systems
  • Process optimisation expertise, with a proven track record of identifying inefficiencies and driving improvements
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset, prospecting issues and delivery solutions independently
  • Experience in stakeholder management across operations, engineering, and suppliers
