Skill Scaffolding Ltd is a privately owned scaffolding company based in Southampton, founded in 1992. Starting with a single team, the company now operates over 20 scaffolding teams daily, providing reliable scaffold erection services. Skill Scaffolding is led by four Directors who have progressed through the business, reflecting a strong culture of development and promotion from within. The leadership team is supported by Supervisors and a Quality Control Manager who oversee day-to-day operations and standards. The company’s “Skill Promise” emphasizes strict adherence to health and safety legislation to protect staff, the public, and the environment.

Role Description

Scaffolders at Skill Scaffolding are responsible for erecting, modifying, and dismantling scaffolding structures on construction and maintenance projects in accordance with safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves working at height, following site instructions, and collaborating closely with supervisors, other scaffolders, and site contractors to meet project timelines. Scaffolders are expected to maintain clean and safe work areas, use personal protective equipment correctly, and complete any necessary site documentation. This is a full-time, on-site role located in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications

  • Practical skills in erecting, altering, and dismantling scaffolding systems, including experience working at height and handling scaffold components safely.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, safe work practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment on construction sites.
  • Ability to read and follow basic scaffold drawings or instructions, with good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to follow supervisor directions and coordinate with other trades on site.
  • Good physical fitness, manual handling capability, and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISRS cards or equivalent scaffolding qualifications) and prior experience as a scaffolder or laborer in construction are highly beneficial.
  • Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
