About the Role

TransPennine Express is delivering transformational change across the business including a significant number of complex, high value projects. Delivery of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) programme, alongside other significant rail enhancement programmes into operation, on time, on budget, to specification and performing as required will be critical milestones. As part of TRU, there is a commitment to procure and deliver New Trains. The project has been ongoing in its current form since 2023.

The New Trains team is looking for a keen and driven candidate who can support the delivery of a complex New Trains programme into the next decade, to support the needs of the TransPennine Route Upgrade and the wider future of TransPennine Express. The role will be an integral part of the team in supporting the relationships with industry partners and the processes which support a business critical major project and taking the new trains project from procurement into delivery.

Working within the Projects Directorate the successful candidate will be demonstrate their willingness to drive the project forward. The role will work closely with our train manufacturer and financier to develop the future rail offering for the North. We are looking for a candidate with passion and drive to make things happen and support the team in the lifecycle of the project, leading the planning and execution of the TPT New Trains Schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Primavera P6 to work closely, and on-site where required, with the Manufacturer’s Planning Team, demonstrating strong ability to work under pressure and clear decision making.
  • Coordinate, track and report project progress against the Manufacturer’s Contract Programme, reporting progress into the wider TPT team.
  • Manage TPT’s New Trains Schedule, working closely with the integrated Project Management Office’s TRU Planning Manager and critical integration areas such as Operations and Safety, Digital and specifically for the Driver Training programme.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for project reviews and attending key meetings.
  • Develop and maintain positive Client Relationships through appropriate stakeholder management and providing suitable progress reporting.
  • Interface for the New Trains team to the wider Major Projects team, leading communications within the team and supporting wider business integration.
  • Maintain Client Relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience of working with Primavera P6 and planning tools.
  • Track record of balancing competing priorities and working with large, complex organisations.
  • Strong written skills and an ability to present efficiently and effectively.
