School Business Manager
Location: Nathaniel Newton Infant School, Victoria Road, Hartshill, Nuneaton. CV10 0LS
Salary: NJC Grade I SCP 17-20 £33,699 to £36,363 (Actual salary £23,064-£25,561)
Contract Type: Permanent. Term Time + 3 Weeks during school closure periods
Working Pattern: 4 days per week – days are negotiable (although hours can be worked over 5 days if this is preferable)
Hours: 28 hours per week. 8:30am – 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break. Start and finish times can be negotiated.
About The Role
The Headteacher and Governors are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, proactive, and forward-thinking School Business Manager to join our friendly and welcoming infant school. This is a key leadership role, providing strategic and operational support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school’s business functions.
You will work closely with the Headteacher to oversee financial management, HR processes, premises, administration, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the school’s financial management, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting
- Manage HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and staff records
- Oversee administrative systems and ensure efficient daily operations
- Coordinate premises management, health and safety, and statutory compliance
- Manage contracts and service providers, ensuring value for money
- Support strategic planning and contribute to school improvement priorities
- Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and implemented effectively

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a strategic thinker who leads by example – setting high standards for themselves and others
- Is passionate about making a difference to the life chances of our children
- Has experience in financial management (school experience desirable but not essential)
- Is highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Can work independently with initiative and is calm in a busy, working environment
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Has a comprehensive understanding of IT systems and management software
- Has a flexible, solution-focused approach
- Can demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their professional development
A background in education or public sector administration would be advantageous but is not essential.
