Job Requirements

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree or professional qualification in Business Administration, Accountancy, HR, or a dedicated School Business Management qualification
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding children and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines.
  • Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness for one).
  • Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

  • Strategic Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets, financial forecasting, and resource allocation within public or educational sectors.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Strong capability to motivate, manage, and develop multi-disciplinary operational teams.
  • Project Management: Exceptional organisation skills to oversee facilities management, capital builds, and school-wide initiatives simultaneously.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills suitable for engaging with staff, governors, external partners, and the Trust.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to assess complex operational data, identify inefficiencies, and implement swift, effective solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: A deep understanding of safer recruitment, GDPR, employment law, and educational financial standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual school budget, ensuring maximum value for money and strict financial compliance.
  • Staff Leadership: Line-manage and develop the non-instructional support teams, including administrative, finance, premises, and IT personnel.
  • HR Administration: Oversee staff recruitment, payroll verification, contract administration, and the maintenance of the Single Central Record (SCR).
  • Premises and Estates: Supervise the maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the school buildings and grounds, coordinating with external contractors as required.
  • Health and Safety: Act as the designated Health and Safety lead, ensuring comprehensive risk assessments, fire safety checks, and compliance policies are strictly enforced.
  • Procurement and Contracts: Negotiate, manage, and review service level agreements (SLAs) and supplier contracts to optimise school spending.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate closely with the Principal and the Trust to formulate long-term operational and capital expenditure strategies.
  • Management Information Systems: Maintain and optimise school
