About This Role
Kaye’s Academy is seeking a dynamic and solution-focused School Business Manager to lead the financial and administrative areas of our school.
Our school is a friendly, village-focused community, working alongside parents and governors to provide children with the best possible opportunities. Core Responsibilities
The School Business Manager will lead and oversee the financial and administrative functions of Kaye’s Federation, including:
Financial Leadership & Governance
- Strategic finance and budget planning
- Financial management, monitoring, and compliance
- Use of IT systems for data tracking

Operational & Facilities Management
- Premises and facilities maintenance
- Health, safety, and risk management
Project & Resource Planning
- Project management, including capital projects for school improvements
- Asset management and school improvement initiatives
Advisory Support
- Collaborating with the Headteacher to optimise budget allocation
- Supporting Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in effective financial decision-making
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in financial accounting (budgeting, financial reporting, cost-control processes)
- Strong background in study-based strategy and financial planning
- Confidence in complex data management, including;
- Income and expenditure oversight
- Benchmarking
- Affordability assessment
- Familiarity with estate and facility management
- People management experience (preferably in education or a related sector)
- Strong IT proficiency (particularly financial and management information systems)
- Skilled presenting and reporting knowledge (written, verbal)
- Commitment to a sustainable, efficient, and ethical approach to school operations.

Safeguarding Compliance

- Pass DBS checks at an enhanced level
- Undergo reference and online content checks per DFE’s Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines
Probation & Working Practices
- The role includes a mandatory six-month probation period, following the Education Staff Disciplinary and Appeals Code
- Service begins on approval of any safeguarding/vetting requirements.
