School Caretaker - Temporary Role

Pay (Temp): £16.00-£17.50 per hour

Location: Sparkhill
Start: ASAP

DBS on the Update Service - Essential - Only applicants with a DBS on the update service will be considered


We are recruiting an experienced and dependable School Caretaker for a welcoming primary setting in the Sparkhill area. This is a temp opportunity offering possible long-term stability, with a permanent salary above £28,000 for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing the site, including key-holding and alarm duties
  • Painting
  • General maintenance, repairs and basic DIY across the school
  • Ensuring the site is clean, safe and well-presented at all times
  • Managing contractors and overseeing on-site works
  • Carrying out health & safety checks, compliance logs and routine inspections
  • Supporting with deliveries, room setups and movement of equipment
  • Being a reliable, proactive presence around the school

Requirements

  • DBS on the Update Service - essential
  • Previous experience as a caretaker, site manager or facilities assistant
  • Strong DIY/maintenance skills
  • Good understanding of health & safety and site security
  • Reliable, hands-on and able to work independently
  • Immediate availability
