About the Role

School Crossing Patrol – Moulsham Infant and Moulsham Junior Schools Gloucester Avenue, Chelmsford CM2 9DG

  • Type: Permanent, Term Time
  • Pay Rate: £13.46 per hour
  • Annual Hours: Approximately 7.5 hours per week
  • Working Style: Fixed-base worker
  • Duty Timings (Approx): 08:20–09:05 & 15:00–15:45 (daily during term time)

Support Moulsham Infant and Moulsham Junior Schools, ensuring the safety of pedestrians (including children) when crossing Gloucester Avenue. You will work once in the morning and once in the afternoon, maintaining order and patrolling the designated crossing zones.

We are seeking a reliable, punctual, and approachable individual with a friendly disposition toward public engagement.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring pedestrians, especially children, cross roads safely in adherence with British iodine traffic regulations.
  • Assisting those with mobility impairments to safely reach the crossing points.
  • Conducting risk assessments of the crossing environment and submitting reports of hazards/defects to field supervisors.
  • Documenting and escalating incidents (e.g., near-miss traffic accidents, vehicles failing to stop).
  • Maintaining the uniform and safety equipment assigned to you and reporting any necessary replacements.
  • Ensuring drivers and other road users comply with traffic signals, prioritising crossing safety at all times.
  • Building clear communication and regular engagement with the participating schools and crossing-site maintenance team.
