Salary £32,061 - £36,363 per annum | 37 hours per week | Permanent, Full time | County Hall | Lancashire


We are currently recruiting to the post of Schools Finance Officer within the Financial Management: Development and Schools Finance Team. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute and support traded functions of the Schools Finance Team.


As the Schools Finance Officer, you will:

  • Provide traded support to Lancashire schools, including budget monitoring, reconciliations, and communicating with school bursars and senior leadership teams.
  • Travel to schools across the county to deliver services.
  • Be part of a large and supportive team, supporting over 500 schools and academies within Lancashire.
  • Support statutory functions, including year-end processes, grant allocations, funding payments, and academy conversions.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English, grades A - C (grades 9 - 4 on the new grade scale).
  • Possesses great communication skills with the ability to advise and present information to senior staff and customers, including those without finance knowledge.
  • Can work well in a team and independently without close supervision.
  • Has the ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and can adapt to working with new financial systems.
  • Is self-motivated, organized, and capable of dealing with complex issues constructively while working accurately under pressure.
  • Has a driving license and car. This is an essential car user post and traveling to schools to meet with customers will be required.
