School Lettings Assistant/Customer Service Assistant

Community Connector

(Local Key Holder / School Lettings Assistant)

📍 Borden Grammar School 📍 Avenue of Remembrance 📍 Sittingbourne, Kent 📍 ME10 4DB

Contract

📅 Part-time, Permanent

Hours of Work

  • Weekdays (Monday - Friday): Shifts between 4:30pm and 10:30pm
  • Weekends (Saturday/Sunday): Availability from 7:45am until 10:30pm (shifts max 8 hours)
  • Expected hours per week: 5–15 hours
  • Rate: £12.75 per hour

We do this by partnering with schools to rent their facilities to the community. Our spaces are hired by wonderful community groups, and the income generated is used to:

  • Improve educational experiences and facilities for students.
  • Build stronger connections with the surrounding community.

Why This Role Matters

Our operation spans 50+ schools (and growing). We are seeking community-minded individuals to join our team of 100+ part-time Community Connectors, who:

  • Open and close schools.
  • Ensure customers receive great service during bookings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and close assigned school venues (evenings & weekends)
  • Act as a key holder, remaining onsite throughout customer bookings
  • Conduct necessary checks and light cleaning/tidying post-bookings
  • Set up and clear away tables/chairs during events (e.g., moving exam setups)
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Report back to the operations team on school activities

Training is provided for these tasks.


Experience Required

You ideally have:

  • Experience delivering exceptional customer service
  • A flexible, organised, and timely approach (critical for smooth bookings)
  • Experience providing constructive feedback (essential for improving school operations and services)
  • A commitment to social/community support (shared by all our team members)

Employment Requirements

Due to school facility access, a clear enhanced DBS check is mandatory.
