Position: School Meals Supervisory Assistant
Base Salary: £28,617 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) Scale Point 3, reviewed annually
Role Overview
Do you love working with children and bringing fun, energy, and creativity to the playground? St Michael’s CofE Primary School is seeking a School Meals Supervisory Assistant to join our team.
At St Michael’s, we pride ourselves on creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where every child is valued. We are looking for someone passionate about supporting children’s well-being, encouraging active play, and fostering a positive atmosphere during lunchtimes.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pupils during the midday break period, ensuring their safety, welfare, and good conduct.
- Plan, encourage, and participate in outdoor play activities, instructing children in constructive, engaging ways.
- Oversee dining hall supervision to create an enjoyable lunchtime experience.
- Maintain clear and sensitive communication with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and report any concerns in line with school procedures.

Person Specification
- Strong desire to work with children and embed positivity and engagement.
- Excellent communication skills, with empathy and patience.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and approachable.
- Experience (or willingness) to support inclusive practice.
About the School
Located in beautiful surroundings near Highgate Village (5-minute walk from Highgate Tube), our school offers a welcoming, tight-knit community. We have a focus on creativity, respect, and nurturing articulate, well-behaved children.
Key Details
Term: Fixed-term contract (1 September 2026 – 31 August 2027) Hours: 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday (term-time only). Closing Date: Friday 31 July 2026 (interviews may be held before closing date for exceptional candidates) Interviews: Thursday 23 August 2026
