Westwood College, Dear Applicant,

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, proactive and highly organised School Operations Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across Westwood College and Leek High School.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth, safe and effective operation of two thriving secondary schools. Reporting to the Executive Headteacher, the successful candidate will oversee facilities management, health and safety compliance, ICT services and administrative functions, helping to create outstanding environments where staff and students can flourish.

About The Role

As School Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing operational support services across both schools. Working closely with senior leaders and Trust colleagues, you will:

  • Lead and manage facilities, premises, ICT and administrative support services.
  • Drive continuous improvement across operational systems and processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety, safeguarding and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee contractor management, procurement and service delivery.
  • Lead on estate development, maintenance programmes and capital projects.
  • Provide strategic advice and operational reports to school leadership.
  • Foster a positive culture of accountability, collaboration and high standards.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an individual who has:

  • Significant experience of premises, facilities and health and safety management.
  • Experience of managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of working within a school, trust, public sector or similar environment.
  • A sound understanding of statutory compliance and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional operational support services.

Relevant Health & Safety and/or Premises Management qualifications are desirable, although candidates working towards a recognised qualification will also be considered.
