Opportunity to Join Glyn School’s School Standards Board (SSB)
We are seeking committed community members from all walks of life and backgrounds to join our Schools Standards Board. We welcome individuals who can bring diverse viewpoints, expertise, and fresh ideas to enhance opportunities for our children and families within the local community.
Your Role as an SSB Member
You will have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the School Standards Board at Glyn School for a four-year period. As an SSB member, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and contributing to the school’s development plan, aligned with key improvement priorities.
- Challenging and influencing school leaders to effect meaningful change.
- Engaging with stakeholders—parents, staff, and the wider community—by:
- Gathering and responding to feedback from parents and staff.
- Building and maintaining strong community links for the school.
- Providing regular feedback to the Trust Board on school performance and stakeholder insights.
- Influencing the strategic direction of the Trust.
No prior education experience is necessary, and extensive training and support will be provided throughout your tenure.

Glyn School is a high-performing school with an Outstanding Ofsted rating since 2009. Open to boys aged 11–16 with a thriving mixed Sixth Form, the school has a proud history of excellence dating back to 1927.

We seek individuals who can demonstrate strategic thinking and contribute to shaping the school’s priorities—without currently possessing in-depth educational experience. Key strengths include:

- Capability to analyse and interpret data, enabling informed decision-making.

Practical Details
The SSB role is voluntary but requires a time commitment that includes:
- Six formal meetings per academic year (one per half term).
- Attendance at customised training sessions.
- School visits relevant to your responsibilities.
Modest expenses for travel will be reimbursed, ensuring your involvement is accessible. With expert backing, you’ll play a vital role in influencing educational outcomes locally.
