Type: Contract / Long-term / Supply (depending on availability) Location: Cardiff Start date: ASAP Hours: Full-time Pay: £100–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Are you a fluent Welsh-speaking Cover Supervisor with a passion for science and supporting young people in their learning? Do you have the confidence to lead a classroom and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the class teacher?
Elementa Support Services is working in partnership with an inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school to recruit an enthusiastic Welsh-speaking Cover Supervisor to fill an ongoing role within their science department. This role offers the opportunity to support pupils across KS3 and KS4, ensuring continuity of learning while delivering pre-set work and maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement.
About The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, with a focus on science subjects Support pupils’ learning through the medium of Welsh Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Manage behaviour in line with school policies Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and engagement Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider school community

What We’re Looking For
To Be Considered, Candidates Must Have
Degree in science based subject or a related field (eg: sports science) Fluency in Welsh (spoken and written) Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration (or willingness to apply) An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (Elementa can assist) Experience working with young people in an educational setting Strong classroom management and communication skills A confident and adaptable approach to covering a range of subjects, particularly science
Desirable
A degree or strong background in a science-related subject Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant in a secondary school Experience supporting KS3 and KS4 learners A proactive and flexible attitude
