About the Opportunity

In the heart of Newham, an ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School is seeking a Science Teacher / Science ECT for a September 2026 start. This is a permanent, full-time role.

We are looking for an ambitious, Science Teacher / Science ECT eager to drive growth within our expanding Science Department. With supportive Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and outstanding Progress 8 results, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Roles and Opportunities

For experienced teachers, your expertise can take form as:

  • KS3 Coordinator
  • Pastoral responsibilities

For Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and Empty Classroom Teachers (ECTs):

  • 1:1 mentorship from engaging teachers
  • Proprietary bespoke ECT induction programme
  • Intensive ongoing training (both school-contained and outward-facing)

Core Responsibilities

  • Inspire and motivate the next generation of budding scientists
  • Collaborate with a talented team of Science Teachers
  • Develop professional expertise via TLR opportunities aligning with personal progression
  • Embed high-quality instructional practices as part of continuous school (and self-)improvement

Job Requirements to Perform Roles Effectively and Excel

  • Singularly holds valid UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or has a robust pathway charted for secure attainment
  • Possesses strong academic credentials (embedded where possible: Degree/A-Levels certificates including GCSEs)
  • Demonstrates Teaching Standards compliance to ‘Good or Outstanding’ level (Evidence desirable pertaining to particularly the mentoring ecosystem here at the school.)
  • Proven capacity to work collaboratively within a dynamic Science Department
  • Committed mindset to embracing advancement by accepting constructive feedback
