We are looking for an enthusiastic Science Technician to provide support for our large, thriving and well-equipped Science department. The successful candidate will play an important role in giving students a wide variety of educational experiences in their Science lessons. Enthusiasm, drive, and a passionate interest in this important subject area are all key attributes to this role.

This is a permanent contract to start as soon as possible. The post is full-time but part-time may be considered for the right candidate. This is a term-time only position working 39 weeks a year - Pay Award Pending.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at grade C or above
  • An advanced vocational or academic qualification (BTEC Higher, HNC/D, Advanced City & Guilds certificate) or substantial experience in a relevant work area together with a vocational/academic qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent

Set in a semi-rural location with an 18th Century family Manor House at its heart, Lytchett has one of the most beautiful and inspirational learning environments in the county with stunning extensive grounds and a number of modern extensions. The school is massively over-subscribed and highly regarded in the community. The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Keeping Children Safe in Education

Lytchett Minster School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
