Science Technician

Reports to: Second in Charge of Science

Application Deadline: 9am on Friday 10th July 2026

Start date: September 2026

Contract: Permanent / 42 weeks per year (Term time + 3 weeks)

Salary: S18 (£27,199) – S24 (£31,544)

The Role

We are looking for a talented science technician to join our science department from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is considering a career in education or is keen to use their laboratory skills / science background to support our high-performing and dynamic group of science teachers.

The main responsibilities will involve:

  • Managing the preparation and clearing of equipment for practical science each week
  • Managing a fully stocked science prep room
  • Including the maintenance and monitoring of science equipment and resources
  • Keeping the department health and safety policy up to date

The science technician will be someone who will have:

  • Experience of secondary school science, preferably with experience as a laboratory technician
  • Experience of GCSE and A Level practical work
  • Experience preparing hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials for school laboratory use
  • A high level of drive and motivation
  • Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills and can work under pressure
