THE BRIEF

Oxygen 8 Recruitment is searching for a Scientific Director to take ownership of a broad portfolio of medical affairs and scientific communications programmes.

This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll pair deep scientific credibility with genuine client-facing presence, running programmes end-to-end with minimal oversight, helping the agency win and grow accounts, and acting as a bridge between its UK and US scientific teams.

There's also real scope to shape how the team uses AI tools in its day-to-day scientific work, provided the science stays rigorous and well governed.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Running medical affairs and scientific communications programmes end-to-end across multiple therapeutic areas and accounts.
  • Writing, reviewing, and signing off scientific content, advisory boards, congress materials, publications, training, video, and presentation deliverables.
  • Acting as the scientific voice in client relationships: advising, troubleshooting, and representing the agency at meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Running and facilitating KOL engagement, advisory boards, and scientific meetings.
  • Spotting and developing organic growth opportunities within existing accounts, and contributing scientific input to pitches and new business proposals.
  • Working as a connective thread between the agency's UK and US medical communications teams, sharing expertise and tightening how the two sides collaborate.
  • Bringing AI tools into scientific workflows (literature review, content drafting, insight generation) with proper scientific oversight and quality control.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
