Scientist – Drug Metabolism

About Cyprotex

    • PBPK/QSAR modelling expertise
  • A strong focus on R&D

Our Alderley Park site is set in a stunning 400-acre estate with open green spaces and sweeping viewpoints, easily accessible via public transport to Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and Shropshire.

Role: Scientist (Drug Metabolism, ADME)

Location & Type

  • Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG
  • Role Type: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory-based drug metabolism assays (manual/liquid-handling robotic) under tight deadlines while maintaining high quality
  • Analyze and interpret data independently using scientific knowledge
  • Take ownership of assay management, including planning, execution, and timeline coordination
  • Train colleagues, deliver constructive feedback, and support quality documentation/maintenance
  • Continuously identify process/assay improvements and propose solutions
  • Assist senior team members in assay development/validation and bespoke project work
  • Mentor associate scientists and peers for data analysis/technique execution
  • Adhere to safety regulations and quality control procedures
  • Monitor/inventory consumables and coordinate with buyers/suppliers

Skills & Competencies

Essential:

  • Ability to organize tasks, meet deadlines, and balance priorities across multiple activities
  • Strong troubleshooting/initiative (collaborating with peers as needed)
  • Clear verbal/written communication, attention to detail, and cultural collaboration with stakeholders
  • Ability to give/receive feedback and apply it constructively
  • Experience in liquid-handling robots (e.g., Tecan EVO® platform), LC-MS/MS or LC-ToF-MS data analysis

Requirements

  • Degree: MSc or BSc equivalent with laboratory experience (e.g., pharmaceutical industry, biotech, CRO, or academia)
  • Essential: Direct experience in in vitro drug metabolism/DDI assays
