Research Scientist Downstream Process Development (DSP)
Role: Full-time, permanent
Location: Harrow, North West London
Salary: Competitive + bonus + benefits
The Role:
The Research Scientist (DSP) will help to design, optimise, and scale downstream purification processes for therapeutic biologics, including monoclonal antibodies and proteins, supporting biosimilar development and commercialisation. The role spans early- and late-stage process development, including process characterisation, scale-up, and technology transfer.
It also focuses on platform process development, process intensification (including continuous purification), and viral safety strategies, ensuring processes are robust, scalable, and compliant with regulatory and quality requirements.

Additionally, the role supports product lifecycle management activities and contributes to technical discussions with global partners.
The Person:
- Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with chromatography systems (e.g., ÄKTA) and filtration platforms.
- Proficiency with DoE tools, Unicorn, and statistical/data analysis software like JMP.
- Experience in biologics or biosimilar development is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret analytical data (e.g., HPLC, CE-SDS, SEC).
- Adaptable in a dynamic R&D environment
