Scientist – Drug Metabolism
We are recruiting dedicated scientists for Associate Scientist and Scientist roles to join our Drug Metabolism team based at Alderley Park.

With state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise, we specialise in in vitro and in silico ADME-Tox services, providing a wide range of assays tailored to our client’s needs. This includes in vitro ADME screening to support discovery projects, regulatory in vitro ADME and DDI studies to support preclinical and clinical development, specialist mechanistic in vitro human and animal toxicity models and PBPK/QSAR modelling expertise.
As well as supporting clients directly, we have a strong focus on R&D. Our Alderley Park site is set in the heart of Cheshire surrounded by stunning 400-acre estate, open green spaces, sweeping viewpoints, all within easy reach of Merseyside and Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and Shropshire. Easy access to public transport.
As a result of success within the company and future focus on business growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of our Drug Metabolism team. We are responsible for delivering high quality drug metabolism, enzyme inhibition and enzyme induction data to our clients, supporting projects from early discovery right through to clinical development.
Role
As a Scientist you will be primarily laboratory-based, working with our highly skilled team to ensure that drug metabolism assays, both commercial and R&D focused, are performed to a high standard and within scheduled time-frames. In addition, you will support the management of drug metabolism assay, training and development of others in the team, and improve the team’s knowledge and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts routine assays (both manually and using liquid-handling robots) and data processing to high quality within specified time frames.
- Demonstrates ability to use scientific knowledge in data analysis, interpretation and troubleshooting.
- Responsibility for assay management; takes ownership for the planning and delivery of specific assay in the group.
- Effectively communicates within team and to study managers.
- Responsibility for training others and delivering feedback to support development.
- Supports senior team with ensuring quality documentation and processes are maintained.
- Proactively and continually identifies improvement opportunities within the group’s processes and assays.
- Supports senior scientists in the team to review and action any appropriate improvements.
- Supports senior team members with assay development, validation and bespoke assays, driving forward any projects involved in, working closely with the Information Systems teams where required.
- Coaches and mentors associate scientists and other colleagues within the team on assay execution and data analysis.
- Follows safety regulations and quality control procedures.
- Monitors and maintains stock consumables, communicating with internal buyers and external suppliers.

Education, Qualifications and Experience
- MSc or BSc degree or equivalent with experience working within a laboratory environment.
- Experience could be from within a Pharmaceutical company, Biotech, CRO or academia.
- Direct experience in in vitro drug metabolism/drug-drug interaction assays is required.
- Knowledge of general laboratory processes is essential alongside experience in the following: liquid handling robotics (such as Tecan EVO® platform), LC-MS/MS or LC-ToF-MS analysis and subsequent data analysis.

- Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution, and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
