The Opportunity

The Scientist 1 is responsible for conducting basic complexity laboratory projects, generating test data in support of New Product Development and Manufacturing. This role reports to the Manager, Fast Trak Validation Services and is located in Harbourgate, Portsmouth, part of Global Filter Performance & Lab Ops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute basic complexity test work with minimal guidance.
  • Compile and write detailed test reports.
  • Review job requests, relevant Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and ensure requirements align with laboratory SOPs, with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain and replenish laboratory consumable stock levels, placing orders as required.
  • Operate, understand, and troubleshoot all relevant equipment and instrumentation necessary to support testing, autonomously.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science (Chemistry or Biology) or a Life Science-related discipline.
  • A desire to collaborate closely in diverse teams to apply scientific analysis while developing your understanding of scientific principles.
  • Ability to identify project issues and propose solutions based on current practices—or better yet, introduce innovative ideas.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment for daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and measurement methods, with the practical ability to perform basic complexity test work.

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with:

  • Aseptic techniques
  • Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles
  • Computer-based data management and analysis software
