Experienced Scrub Nurse – Prestige Private Eye Hospital, Whiteley

The Role
The Scrub Nurse will play a critical role in the Ophthalmic Surgical pathway, providing exceptional patient care and supporting the operating theatre team, including peri-operative and post-operative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of registered healthcare duties, including:
- Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care (under Practitioner supervision)
- Maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and consent while adhering to Trust/department policies
- Anticipate surgical team needs, ensuring appropriate instrumentation is available
- Ensure correct disposal of surgical waste and proper decontamination/sterilisation of reusable equipment (with full traceability)
- Complete documentation accurately for patient and equipment traceability
- Assist with minor ophthalmic operations in line with departmental protocols

Requirements
To excel in this role, you must have:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) status
- Current NMC/ODP registration (with no restrictions)
- Specialist qualification in Ophthalmology or Perioperative Care
- Minimum 1 year of Ophthalmic Surgical Theatre experience
- Strong IT skills (proficient in Microsoft Office)
- Awareness of NMC Professional Code of Conduct responsibilities
- Understanding of CQC standards & compliance requirements
