Scrub Nurse – Private Eye Hospital (York)
Optegra has an exciting new role for an experienced Scrub Nurse to join our prestige private eye hospital in York. Join a growing and developing business and benefit from our fully funded training programs to take your career to the next level.
About the Role
The Scrub Nurse will provide excellent clinical and technical assistance to patients undergoing ophthalmic surgical procedures. This role involves supporting the operating theatre team, while ensuring patients receive world-class care in our surgical and refractive suite. Duties may also extend to peri-operative and post-operative assistance, including minor surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the full range of registered healthcare professional duties, including:
- Patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
- Collaboration with the Practitioner in Charge
- Maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and adherence to Trust policies
- Reporting any concerns to senior staff
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing appropriate instrumentation and equipment
- Ensure safe disposal of all surgical waste and effective decontamination/sterilisation of reusable equipment
- Complete accurate documentation for traceability and compliance

Requirements
- Registered General Nurse OR Operating Department Practitioner
- Current NMC/ODP registration (no restrictions)
- Qualification in Ophthalmology or Perioperative Care
- One year or more of ophthalmology surgical theatre experience
- Proficient IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of:
- NMC Professional Code of Conduct
- CQC standards and requirements
