Job Title: Scrub Nurse - Orthopaedic Surgery

Department: Theatre Hours: 37.5 hours per week (including evening and weekend shifts) Salary: £41,400.28 per annum Reports to: Theatre Manager Location: Harding Avenue, Newport, Wales

About the Role

St Joseph’s Independent Hospital is seeking two enthusiastic and motivated healthcare professionals with a passion for orthopaedics to join its Theatre department. This role offers the opportunity to:

Duties and Responsibilities

The Scrub Nurse will be responsible for ensuring the theatre environment meets rigorous standards. Primary tasks include:

  • Actively embodying the hospital’s organisational values
  • Working flexibly, collaboratively, and efficiently to support surgical teams
  • Maintaining high attention to detail to promote safety and quality care
  • Contributing knowledgeable insights to enhance departmental and organisational standards
  • Demonstrating initiative and a positive, professional demeanour

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Professional qualification in Nursing or Operating Department Practice
  • Valid NMC/HCPC registration
  • Relevant work experience within orthopaedics or a similar surgery-focused role
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to professional development
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
