**Experienced Scrub Nurse – Ophthalmology Surgical Theatre

We’re looking for a dedicated Scrub Nurse to join our **private North London Eye Hospital'**s team at Optegra Eye Healthcare. A 19-hour-per-week role across Tuesdays and Wednesdays, this opportunity offers £46,575 (FTE) with access to our fully funded training programs and a supportive, modern workplace—where developing your career is a priority.

The Role

As a Scrub Nurse within Optegra’s Ophthalmic Surgical Pathway, you’ll provide critical clinical and technical support on our Operating Theatre team. You may also assist with:

  • Peri-operative and post-operative care in surgical/refractive procedures.
  • Assisting with minor operations in the hospital suites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement nursing duties (assessment, planning, care, monitoring) under Practitioner-led supervision, ensuring patient dignity and privacy.
  • Anticipate surgical team needs, supplying and positioning specialised ophthalmic instruments efficiently.
  • Manage surgical waste, decontamination, and sterilisation protocols—ensuring full traceability via documentation.
  • Maintain strict infection control and regulatory compliance, reporting any concerns to senior staff.

Requirements

  • Qualified as a Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
  • Current NMC/ODP registration (unrestricted).
  • Specialist qualification or experience in Ophthalmology/Peri-operative care.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in ophthalmic surgical theatres.
  • Proficient in IT & Microsoft Office.
  • Committed to NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Awareness of CQC standards and best practice.
