Scrub Nurse / Theatre Nurse (Perioperative Nurse) – UK Nationwide
Location
*On-site – Multiple Locations Across the United Kingdom Flexible placements available depending on candidate experience and client needs.
About the Role
We are seeking experienced Scrub Nurses / Theatre Nurses (Perioperative Nurses) to support surgical services across multiple NHS trusts and private healthcare providers in the UK.
You will provide direct support during surgical procedures, ensure a sterile theatre environment, prepare instruments and equipment, and assist the surgical team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care across various specialties.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating theatre equipment, instruments, and sterile fields prior to surgery
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating and passing instruments
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and theatre sterility standards
- Perform instrument counts before, during, and after operations
- Support patient preparation for surgery and perioperative care activities
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff
- Participate in postoperative debrief and theatre turnover tasks
- Maintain accurate documentation of theatre activities

Requirements
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration in the UK
- Previous experience in scrub, theatre, or perioperative nursing
- Strong knowledge of theatre asepsis and infection control practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced clinical environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work across multiple surgical disciplines and locations
- Professional attitude with high standards of patient care and safety

Desirable
- Perioperative nursing qualifications or theatre specialist training
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties (orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, trauma)
- Familiarity with UK surgical pathways and theatre procedural protocols
