About the Role
We are recruiting experienced Scrub Nurses / Theatre Nurses (Perioperative Nurses) to support surgical services with multiple NHS trusts and private healthcare providers across the UK. This role is essential to the operating theatre team, working directly with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver safe, high-quality surgical care across a range of specialities.
As a Scrub Nurse you will provide direct support during surgical procedures, ensure a sterile theatre environment, prepare instruments and equipment, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team to optimise patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating theatre equipment, instruments, and sterile field prior to surgery.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating and passing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and theatre sterility standards.
- Perform instrument counts before, during, and after operations to ensure patient safety.
- Support patient preparation for surgery and contribute to perioperative care activities.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff.
- Participate in postoperative de-brief and theatre turnover tasks.
- Ensure documentation of theatre activities and maintain accurate records.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration in the United Kingdom.
- Previous experience in scrub/theatre/perioperative nursing.
- Solid understanding of theatre asepsis and infection control practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced clinical environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work across different surgical disciplines and at multiple sites.
- Professional attitude with high standards of patient care and safety.

Desirable
- Perioperative nursing qualifications or theatre specialist training.
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties (orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, trauma).
- Knowledge of UK surgical pathways and theatre procedural protocols.
