Scrub Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Royal London Hospital for a dynamic, innovative,

and highly motivated Scrub Lead Practitioner to join our team as a Band 7 team lead. We

are seeking a professional with substantial experience as a Band 6 level in theatre scrub

especially in Orthopaedic & trauma, Plastic, Emergency, Vascular within an acute hospital

setting to lead the team in Adult Theatres.

Our hospital boasts 21 state-of-the-art theatres, dedicated to a range of elective and

emergency specialties and complex procedures, including Hepatobiliary, complex ENT,

trauma & orthopaedics, reconstructive orthopaedics, neurosurgery, complex vascular

surgery, interventional radiology, maxillofacial surgery, robotic procedures, renal

transplants, plastic reconstructive surgery, Urology and ophthalmic surgery. We also offer

paediatric expertise to the major trauma service for Southeast England.

The successful candidate will lead and support a team of theatre scrub professionals,

ensuring high standards of patient care are delivered to those admitted via the emergency

and trauma pathways. A key responsibility will be providing clinical supervision and

developing team members to ensure they possess the skills and attributes required to

support the trauma service in a safe environment at The Royal London Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for effective and efficient operational day to day

management of the practice setting, including standards of care, budget management

and control, clinical governance staff development and training. The post holder is

professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practice

and standards of care. They will provide professional clinical leadership within a

defined practice setting and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all

members within the multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical practice, audit, research and

teaching to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient

experience. The post holder is accountable for managing and developing team

performance, managing a devolved budget ensuring efficient and effective use of

physical and human resources.

The post holder will Take ultimate responsibility for the standard of the environment

within his/her identified area of responsibility, ensuring patients’ needs are met and

staff maintain cleanliness as defined by national standards. They will be accessible
