Scrum Lead

Would you like to be part of a growing delivery capability in a people-centric organisation? Or perhaps work in an open and collaborative learning environment? Are you passionate about leading agile teams and driving delivery at pace? We have got all this and more. Whatever your aspirations, we're looking for Scrum Leads to be part of an exceptional Delivery Centre capability, providing dedicated delivery leadership capacity for our clients.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Scrum Master to step into a Scrum Lead position, combining hands-on delivery leadership with broader programme-level influence. You will be responsible for ensuring Delivery Centre product teams deliver effectively and at pace, embedding best-practice agile ways of working, removing blockers, and driving continuous improvement. Alongside team-level ownership, you will contribute to programme planning and cross-team coordination, working closely with Technical and Delivery Leads to ensure delivery aligns with key milestones and Public Sector priorities. This role is suited to an accomplished Scrum Master who can shape team performance while influencing beyond the team level.

The central hub for this position is in Newcastle, but we welcome applicants from across the North-East. We operate a hybrid working policy with an expectation of 60% in office time. We value collaboration and client impact, so our hybrid model is designed to strike a balance between flexibility, in-person connection, and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively challenge external pressures that impact delivery and escalate appropriately
  • Build a resilient, high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Thrive in complex, high-pressure delivery environments, balancing team needs with programme demands
  • Be comfortable managing upwards and across stakeholders to remove systemic blockers and improve delivery flow
  • Take ownership not just of team delivery, but also shape how delivery is executed across the programme
  • Lead all core Scrum ceremonies: Sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives)
  • Ensure sprint goals are clearly defined, understood, and consistently delivered
  • Drive a culture of predictable, high-quality delivery aligned to programme milestones
  • Champion agile principles, coaching your team in collaboration, communication, and iterative delivery
  • Build a high-performing, psychologically safe environment that enables openness and continuous improvement
  • Support team maturity, moving teams towards greater autonomy and efficiency
  • Identify, track, and remove blockers impacting delivery pace or team performance
  • Maintain and interpret delivery artefacts and metrics (velocity, burndown, forecasting, risks) to drive decision-making
  • Support backlog refinement, prioritisation, and stakeholder alignment
  • Work closely with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and Programme stakeholders to align delivery with milestones
  • Ensure alignment with Public Sector governance expectations
  • Contribute to programme-level delivery strategy and operating model improvements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
