Scrum Master
Scrum Master
The Scrum Master role is to:
- Coordinate and prepare teams for Big Room Planning Increment (PI): Ensure all teams are briefed, facilitate communication, and align with stakeholders and other teams.
- Facilitate multiple product teams (8–12 members each) in defining PI objectives, presenting draft and final plans to stakeholders and teams.
- Optimise value flow: Manage team workflow, coach on agile practices, and implement improvements.
- Support delivery of digital and data-driven products to enhance efficiency and insights.
- Collaborate cross-team: Manage dependencies, resolve impediments, and coordinate Agile Release Train (ART) activities.
Responsibilities
- PI Planning & Coach Syncs
- Facilitate team breakouts.
- Provide facilitation support to the Release Train Engineer.

Team Events
- Lead Daily Stand-ups, PI/Iteration Planning, and backlog refinements.

Inspect & Adapt
- Arrange Iteration Reviews, Retrospectives, and problem-solving workshops.

Product Backlog Management
- Work with Product Owners (PO) to ensure a sized, prioritised, and ready backlog.

Team Coaching
- Improve team ways of working, address skill gaps, resolve dependencies, impulses, and conflicts.

Servant Leadership & Reporting
- Oversee Kanban boards, objective progress, flow/quality metrics, and SAFe alignment.
- Ownership of risk, impediments, and dependencies.

Create a Collaborative Environment
- Maintain psychological safety and openness for team contributions.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognised Scrum certification (PSM I/II, CSM, or A-CSM).
- 4+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master for digital/data product teams in cross-functional environments.
- Strong understanding of modern agile principles (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps/Continuous Delivery.
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., business operations, construction, offshore engagements).

Key Skills & Abilities
- Facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to operate in matrix organisations (onshore/offshore teams).
- Experience with TDD, BDD, CI/CD and ApSAFe practices.
- Capability to improve delivery (track throughput, throughput, flow).
- Use of metrics and BI tools for data-driven decision-making.
- Coaching experience to improve individual/team performance.
- Flexible for product, design, testing, and quality assurance if required.
