Tech Pipeline helps operations teams resolve the friction that slows down their daily work. We are currently assisting a Manchester-based client whose task management processes have become cluttered as their team size has increased. This internship focuses on untangling those workflows so the client can manage their own systems effectively without ongoing external help.

About the role

Many companies struggle when their internal tools no longer match the way people actually work. Our Manchester-based client is facing this growth pain right now. As a Scrum Master Intern, you will not be focusing on abstract strategy or high-level slide decks. Instead, you will be looking at the specific points where work gets stuck. This role is about organizing the backlog: identifying why certain tasks are stalling in the approval chain, and ensuring that the team has a clear source of truth for their daily activities. You will work fully remote, helping to bridge the gap between technical requirements and operational reality.

What you will be doing

  • Reviewing the team backlog to identify and merge duplicate tasks that cause confusion for the operators.
  • Monitoring the flow of tickets to identify where they are sitting for more than 48 hours without an update.
  • Updating the internal documentation and SOPs to reflect the new routing rules we implement for the client.
  • Facilitating remote standups focused on practical blockers rather than just repetitive status updates.
  • Reading through ticket comments to find recurring technical friction that needs to be addressed by the engineering team.
  • Reconciling the reported progress in our project management tools with the actual technical logs of work completed.
  • Helping to clean up old tickets and archiving projects that are no longer active to reduce visual noise for the team.
  • Identifying when a task lacks the necessary details for an engineer to start work and following up to gather that information.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we need from you

  • A basic understanding of how work moves through a team: familiarity with Scrum or Kanban is helpful but not required.
  • High attention to detail for catching small errors in documentation or ticket configurations.
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely so that technical and non-technical people can understand the status of a project.
  • A methodical mindset that enjoys organizing messy folders, lists, or databases.
  • Comfort working in a fully remote setting where you can manage your own time and priorities effectively.
  • Basic familiarity with project management software like Jira, Trello, or similar tools.
  • General curiosity about how technical systems integrate and how data moves between them.

Helpful background

  • Studies in business, information systems, or computer science are a good foundation for this work.
  • Experience managing a small group project or a student organization where you had to track deadlines and tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of technical concepts such as APIs or databases: even if you do not write code yourself.

  • This is a paid internship with a competitive rate for the current market and internship level.
  • Direct mentorship from senior operators who value clarity and efficiency over corporate jargon.
  • The chance to see a project go from a messy state to a clean, functioning system.
  • A role where your work results in immediate, visible improvements for the people doing the job every day.

Working at Tech Pipeline means focusing on the ground truth. We believe that good work comes from clear documentation and focused execution rather than long meetings. We rely on substantive weekly updates to keep everyone aligned and emphasize results over activity. Our culture is built on looking at the reality of how work moves: whether that is a server log, a routing rule, or a stuck approval chain. We work closely with our clients to fix their specific problems, and we take pride in leaving them with a system they can actually use. You will be expected to contribute to this culture of clarity, helping us document the fix so that it stays fixed long after our engagement ends.
