We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Scrutiny Officer to support Councillors in the delivery of the scrutiny function in the Council. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the Council operates an effective and successful scrutiny function and to champion, lead and promote the scrutiny function. This will include:
- The co-ordination of the Scrutiny work programme and manage the work of the Scrutiny committees
- To provide support to the Scrutiny Committees and advice to Members and coordinating recommendations for future scrutiny activity
- To liaise and work with Members and Officers at all levels and with external organisations and their representatives
To be successful you will need:
- Be a motivated team player with excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Be the point of contact for Scrutiny Members.
- Be approachable and an excellent communicator and possess the ability to solve problems whilst working under minimal supervision with competing deadlines.
- Be flexible and able to work outside normal office hours is also required.
- Possess a GCSE grade C (level 4) in both Maths and English (or equivalent) and although a post relevant qualification is desirable (degree in a relevant field eg Law, Politics or similar), the ability to demonstrate skills and experience in the subject will be considered in appropriate cases.
