Flexible Part-Time Sales Assistants – York (Summer Trading)

The Gig

Summer trading is coming! We need flexible, team-spirited Sales Assistants to join our York store, supporting various operational areas.

Depending on your experience and enthusiasm, you could take on roles like:

  • Stockroom support: Assist with deliveries, stock organisation, and ensuring all product is safely, quickly, and efficiently moved to the shop floor.
  • Floor runner: Ensure our sales teams have the right products and sizes to meet customer demand.
  • Store greeter: Maintain queue control, welcome customers, and guide them to the right team or product.
  • Till operations: Process transactions while delivering a positive, memorable customer experience.
  • Passionate advocate: Share your love for Docs and our iconic brand with customers!

The role is diverse, dynamic, and requires both energy and precision—but we know you’ll rise to the challenge.

Responsibilities

This is a hands-on, seasonal part-time position requiring adaptability. Some of your daily/weekly tasks may include:

  • Managing high/store traffic periods, including crowd control and customer direction
  • Supporting frontline sales teams (product restocking, inventory checks)
  • Assisting with timed delivery movements to/from our stockroom
  • Engaging with customers to provide product guidance and advice
  • Regular merchandising tasks (seasonal product resets, displays)
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment

Requirements

Ideally, you’ll bring these strengths to the team:

  • Previous retail or customer-facing experience (especially within fashion/lifestyle/luxury brands) is a bonus but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and key seasonal trading days, particularly during peak summer hours.
  • Authentic love for Docs – share our brand’s ethos and excitement with customers!
  • Strong communication skills to build rapport with both colleagues and diverse customers.
  • Physical resilience and energy – our stores can get busy, and you’ll help hold things together.
  • Authentic, fearless personality – professional yet approachable.
