The Opportunity

We seek enthusiastic Sales Assistants to deliver exceptional customer experiences in a dynamic environment. The role sits at our Birmingham Airport store (B26 3QJ), operating across a range of shifts including 3:30am to 11pm, weekends and bank holidays.


Key Details & Requirements

  • Working Conditions: Airport environment; shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Working Hours: 3:30am – 11pm, with opportunities for unpopular shifts (10pm–6am) paying premium rates.
  • Candidate Eligibility:
    • Must provide reference history for the last 5 years.
    • Will undergo a DBS criminal record check as per Airport Security Regulations.
  • Age Requirement: Not suited to Young Workers (Under 18) – compliance with Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act 1996 prevents employment between 10pm–6am.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service:

    • Greet customers warmly.
    • Ensure positive shopping experiences.
    • Uphold customer service measurement standards.
  • Drive and exceed sales targets:

    • Use in-store technology effectively (e.g., tablets, POS systems).
    • Offer broad product range guidance.
    • Maximise add-on sales opportunities.
  • Maintain merchandising and floor standards:

    • Keep the store floor clean and visually appealing.
    • Organise stock aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Support store operations:

    • Assist other departments as needed.
    • Represent JD Sports professionally.
    • Adhere to company safety protocols.
  • Transaction processing:

    • Handle cash and card payments accurately.
    • Upsell and cross-sell products across categories.
  • Stock management:

    • Replenish shelves and maintain organised display areas.
  • Customer queries and support:

    • Resolve issues professionally.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to meet store objectives.

Key Performance Indicators & Objectives

  • Contribute to monthly sales targets (exceeding or achieving).
  • Drive Additional KPIs including:
    • Units Sold.
    • Store Conversion Rate.
    • Average Transaction Value (ATV).
    • Units Per Transaction (UPT).
