About the role

We are looking for a RD&A Seasoning Scientist that will work on developing Snack seasonings driven by consumer taste preferences and nutritional targets across different types of application in partnership with major crisp manufacturers within Europe.

The successful candidate will be based in our Centre of Excellence in Portbury (UK). They will report directly to the BU RD&A Manager and will be part of the UK&I Savoury Snacks team.

Savoury Snacks is a dynamic and exciting market with many eating occasions, leading trends whether through clean label, salt reduction or simply out of this world heat levels!

Key responsibilities

  • Customer facing role developing cost competitive Snack seasonings utilising top note and flavour knowledge and Taste solutions expertise to meet Business and customer requirements
  • Building customer relationships, delivering customer centric solutions and managing customer opportunities to drive Business growth
  • Knowledge of market trends, restrictions, Regulations, customer requirements and processes. Seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies
  • Collection development in partnership with Flavour Technology and Culinary foundations, Flavour Technology Business Development and Portfolio Manager
  • NPD to scale up in factory - Using technical expertise to develop, create, innovate and commercialise. Link with operations teams to ensure efficient manufacturing of developed seasonings
  • Understanding of the full range of Kerry Technologies and ability to build that into development of Snack seasonings. Leading key internal and external projects building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Work independently on projects/briefs liaising with Account Managers, managing customer expectations, attending customer visits and ensuring timelines are met - Understanding of project management
  • Commercial awareness to ensure development of cost effective formula’s providing value to our customers, along with cost optimisation projects to achieve PIP (Profit Improving Programme) objectives in alignment with Regional PIP leads
  • Understand systems and RD&A ways of working including Salesforce (Opportunity management), Optiva (recipe creation), MDG (requesting new or extending raw materials), SAP

Qualifications and skills

  • BSc or Master’s degree in Food Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in R&D within the Snacks, savoury or broader food industry.
  • Experience in product development for savoury applications
  • Customer facing experience
  • Experience with sensory evaluation of ingredients in food application
  • Project management & organisation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge sharing ability
