Food Runner Position at Seaworthy, The Barnett Hotel
Job Overview
Seaworthy, part of The Barnett Hotel, is seeking Food Runners to support servers in delivering beverages and meal items, ensuring smooth and efficient table service at this historic 19th-century Creole venue. Seaworthy showcases sustainably sourced seafood and outdoor dining spaces, located within a restored Art Deco hotel in the New Orleans French Quarter.
Summary of Role
As a Food Runner, you will assist servers by transporting dishes, beverages, and conditional items to guests, managing table provisions, and ensuring seamless service flow. Key tasks include:
- Carrying food from the expediting counter to tables
- Updating servers on table progress via communication
- Maintaining par levels of utensils and condiments
- Supporting table turns and closing duties
Core Responsibilities & Focus Areas
Qualified candidates must excel at:

Guest Service Delivery
- Deliver dishes and beverages to the correct guests promptly
- Ensure each table has the appropriate cutlery and condiments available
- Advise expo teammates on completing tickets efficiently

Operational Support
- Track the flow of service for each table’s order progression
- Perform required side-work (e.g. resets, sanitisation)
- Proactively assist with clean-up during and after service

- Fluent in verbal and written English (bilingual/multilingual applicants preferred)

- Ability to learn and recite the full menu quickly
- Commitment to executing assigned tasks without reminders

- Logical problem-solving to resolve guest operational issues
- Understanding of HRI Culture and adherence to hotel policies
- Structured approach to prioritising tasks and deadlines
Physical Demands
Seaworthy is an active environment requiring:
- Mobility: Extensive standing, walking, and sitting in a fast-paced service setting
- Endurance: Work complete shifts without breaks standing or walking continuously
- Strength & Reach: Lift up to 25lbs frequently, up to 50lbs occasionally
- Tasks include bending, crawling, reaching above shoulder height, and lifting trays
- Hand-eye Coordination: Repeatedly grabbing, lifting, and manipulating items

Work Environment
- Office/Culinary Area with exposure to high humidity levels, moving machinery, and variable temperatures
