This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working as a Bank Second Chef at Barchester.

As a Secondary Chef at Barchester, you'll enjoy hotel/restaurant-level standards while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This opportunity allows you to:

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Assist in menu development, ensuring creativity while maintaining nutrition, taste, and seasonal sustainability.
  • Work with fresh seasonal produce to prepare cuisine of the highest quality.
  • Cultivate a warm, professional, and enjoyable workplace culture within the team and with residents.
  • Operate within budget to ensure cost-effective yet high-quality service.
  • Conduct regular audits to maintain standards.
  • Manage stock control efficiently.
  • Lead and inspire a team, fostering motivation and collaboration.

Requirements

Essential

  • A warm, personable approach with a genuine interest in residents’ well-being.
  • Qualification: Must hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring team members.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition, including dietary requirements and resident needs.
  • Ability to work with seasonal, fresh ingredients.
  • The talent to create a welcoming, engaging environment for residents.
