Key Responsibilities
Core Tasks
- Stand-in kitchen management during the Head Chef’s absence
- Assist in menu development, ensuring nutritive, fresh, and seasonal ingredients are maximised
- Produce high-quality dishes adhering to Barchester’s standards
- Support the creation of a welcoming, efficient, and enjoyable kitchen environment
- Work within budgets to optimise resources
- Conduct regular audits (including HACCP compliance checks)
- Maintain stock control and ensure food safety
- Lead and inspire kitchen teams, ensuring professional collaboration
Healthcare-Focused Goals
- Work directly with residents to adapt menus to personal needs and preferences
- Foster a team spirit grounded in person-centred care
- Champion a quality-first mentality, celebrating excellence through culinary craftsmanship
Key Requirements
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Qualified as a chef with:
- City & Guilds NVQ / SVQ qualification (Level 2 or above) or equivalent
- Natural leadership traits, demonstrated in past roles
- Deep understanding of seasonal and fresh foodografia (produce)
- Strong HACCP knowledge and compliance awareness
- Exceptional ability to create a warm, welcoming dining environment
- Experience leading teams to deliver high-performing services
