Secondary loan trading (SLT)

Job Title: Trade Finance SME / Business Analyst

Location: London/Northampton

Role Overview

We are looking for a Trade Finance SME / Business Analyst with strong expertise in secondary loan trading (SLT) and primary trading, and hands-on experience in Loan IQ trade booking and accounting flows. The candidate will play a key role in supporting front-to-back trade lifecycle processes, ensuring accurate booking, accounting, and operational alignment within Loan IQ.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role

Trade Lifecycle Ownership

  • End-to-end handling of trades:
    • Trade capture
    • Allocation
    • Settlement
    • Post-trade servicing
  • SME-level understanding of:
    • Secondary Loan Trading (SLT)
    • Primary syndication trades

Loan IQ Expertise

  • Hands-on trade booking in Loan IQ
  • Activities include:
    • Trade ticket creation
    • Position updates
    • Settlement processing
  • Debugging and resolving:
    • Booking errors
    • System mismatches
    • Processing failures

Accounting & GL Integration

  • Ensure correct financial posting:
    • P&L entries
    • Accruals
    • Fees
  • Validate system-generated accounting entries
  • Work closely with Finance for:
    • GL mapping
    • Reconciliation
    • Regulatory compliance

Business Analysis Responsibilities

  • Gather and document business requirements
  • Convert trading requirements into:
    • Functional specs for Loan IQ
  • Perform:
    • Gap analysis (Current vs Target state)
    • Process documentation

Testing & Validation

  • Participate in:
    • SIT (System Integration Testing)
    • UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
  • Create test scenarios for:
    • Trade booking
    • Settlements
    • Accounting validation
  • Ensure data integrity & reconciliation
