Secondary Science Teacher Subject Specialist Local Secondary Schools

Position: Full-Time or Part-Time, Flexible (Term Time Only)

Salary: GBP140 - GBP233 per day (Weekly Pay - dependent on experience)

Start Date: Immediate / Next Term

Experiment with Your Career: Impact Without the Admin

We are seeking Qualified Science Teachers (QTS/ECTs) to provide specialist cover across a variety of secondary settings. Whether your passion lies in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, this role allows you to focus on the lab work of teaching:

  • Delivering high-impact lessons without the burden of departmental data tracking or weekend marking.

Core Curriculum Mastery:

  • Lead lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, covering everything from cellular biology and atomic structure to forces, energy, and chemical reactions.

Professional Freedom:

  • Experience different school laboratories and departmental cultures, keeping your teaching practice fresh while building a diverse professional network.

Your Role as a Science Lead

As a Secondary Science Teacher, you are responsible for developing students' analytical skills and their ability to investigate the world through the scientific method.

Expert Lesson Delivery:

  • Facilitate engaging demonstrations and theory-based lessons, encouraging students to think critically about evidence, variables, and global scientific challenges.

GCSE and A-Level Focus:

  • Support examination cohorts with targeted preparation, focusing on required practicals, data analysis, and the application of scientific mathematical skills.

Classroom and Lab Safety:

  • Maintain a disciplined and safe learning environment, ensuring all students follow laboratory protocols while engaging in curiosity-driven learning.

Adaptive Support:

  • Differentiate complex concepts on the fly to support students with SEND or EAL, ensuring that the Big Ideas of science are accessible to every learner.

Essential Requirements

We are looking for articulate and passionate specialists who can spark a eureka moment in the classroom. You are an ideal fit if you:

  • Hold QTS: You have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification (ECTs are highly encouraged).
  • Are a Science Specialist: You have a degree in a Science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Combined Science), with a solid grasp of the KS3/KS4 National Curriculum.
  • Are an Engaging Communicator: You can build rapport with teenagers quickly and use your passion for discovery to spark their interest in STEM.
  • Are Committed: You hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing) and are 100% dedicated to Safeguarding.
