Permanent Secondary SEMH Science Teacher Job

Luma Education Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary SEMH school seeking a passionate and resilient Science Teacher to join their permanent teaching team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to helping young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs achieve positive educational outcomes. You'll teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in small classes, building strong relationships and creating an engaging learning environment where every pupil can succeed.

Whether you already have experience in an SEMH, Alternative Provision or PRU setting, or you're an experienced secondary Science teacher looking to move into specialist education, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Science lessons for students with SEMH needs.
  • Teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and academic progress.
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour through consistent classroom practice.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and senior leaders.
  • Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where required.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
