Secondary School Tutor – Quantum Scholars (Somerset)
Location: Somerset – home, community, and/or online tuition opportunities
Age range: Secondary-aged children and young people
Pay: Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience
About the Role
Quantum Scholars are seeking caring, reliable, and experienced Secondary Tutors to support secondary-aged pupils across Somerset.
We cater to young people who may be educated outside of traditional school settings—for example, those awaiting a suitable placement or requiring personalised additional support. Tuition is typically delivered on a one-to-one basis, either in the student’s home, the community, or online, based on the individual’s needs.
We particularly welcome tutors who can provide a calm, flexible, and young person-centred approach. Successful applicants will need to:
- Build positive relationships with students
- Adapt teaching to meet individual needs
- Deliver engaging, confidence-building sessions that support learning progress and re-engagement with education
Applications are encouraged from tutors with experience in a range of secondary school subjects, especially English, Maths, Science, and Humanities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
