Join us as an Application Security Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity for someone highly interested in security to help develop and improve NatWest Boxed and Mettle's security posture. You’ll be working with multiple stakeholders, in both engineering and business capabilities, to understand implementation and process decisions and help improve them. It’s a hands-on and critical role that will see you helping to make sure we roll out applications that are as safe and secure as possible for our customers.
What you'll do
Our SecOps team covers all areas of security monitoring and incident response for NatWest Boxed and Mettle. You’ll also be:
- Triaging of security events, determining entities involved and providing context to investigation notes.
- Monitoring and responding to security events across our cloud infrastructure, SaaS applications, and native mobile applications.
- Handling SecOps responsibilities and providing technical security support to colleagues across the business.
- Leading engineering projects to improve our monitoring and detection capabilities.
- Leveraging Cyber Threat Intelligence to proactively protect the business from cyber threats.
- Identifying repetitive tasks and creating automated workflows and agentic solutions.
- Be involved in Security playbook creation, development, and refinement.

The skills you'll need
We’re looking for someone who’s highly interested in security with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also need:

- Highly competent with SIEM Engineering and Detection Engineering.
- Good understanding and knowledge of common industry cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and methodologies, including; OWASP, MITRE ATT&CK, and NIST is essential.
- Experienced with IaC in tech stacks such as GCP and AWS cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and its application and security monitoring.
- Great written and oral communication skills.
- Passion for security and love to learn and grow within a team.
- Comfortable working with other teams to resolve and remediate issues.
