Job Description: Neurology Secretary

Job Overview

The purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive, efficient, and confidential secretarial and administrative service to the Neurology team, supporting consultants and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide accurate typing, clinic administration, and patient pathway coordination.
  • Utilise digital systems, including Millennium (EPR) and T-Pro dictation software.
  • Demonstrate strong organisation, communication, and time-management skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills while working within a supportive, collaborative, and hardworking team that prioritises exceptional care.


Main Duties

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support, including:
    • Audio typing of clinical correspondence
    • Managing patient records and appointments on Millennium
    • Ensuring timely processing of clinic outcomes
  • Track patient pathways against RTT (Referral to Treatment) targets
  • Handle patient inquiries professionally
  • Support clinic preparation, maintaining accurate records and continuity of care
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams
  • Escalate any issues that arise, ensuring optimal patient care

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Good standard of education (GCSE equivalent, including English).

Desirable:

  • Secretarial or business administration qualification.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in administrative or secretarial roles.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the NHS or healthcare sector.

Additional Considerations

  • Rehabilitation of Offenders Act eligibility check required due to vulnerable patient interactions.
