Department overview: Nomura's Global Markets Division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. We have taken market-leading positions across the globe by leveraging the strength of our talent, client relationships and technology. By developing strong relationships with our client base through consistent interaction, independent advice and pre-eminent access to Asia, we have built a powerful global franchise across interest rates, currency and credit products. Our client services cover both high-volume flow products and carefully tailored structured solutions. We have adapted to the changing financial landscape to build a client centric focus differentiated by innovation, electronic and service excellence and market-leading derivatives capabilities. The Securitised Products & Private Credit (SP&PC) team is active in the structured illiquid credit space, providing flexible capital solutions to support a variety of situations, including infrastructure financing, portfolio financing, private credit, direct lending, and real estate financing. The team acts as principal and distributes risk on an ad-hoc basis. The team is involved across the origination, screening, diligence, structuring, execution, syndication and monitoring phases of the transaction lifecycle. The team seeks to hire an Analyst / Associate to continue capitalising on the team’s strong momentum in EMEA and to support its growth across its client franchise.

Key objectives critical to success:
Working as part of a focussed team to design and prepare structured financing proposals suited to Nomura’s client needs Supporting screening, risk approval and due diligence processes for new transactions Performing fundamental credit analysis, modelling, assessing underlying project cash flows and collateral value, drafting transaction memoranda Participating in client and internal calls and meetings to support the above processes and analyses Executing trades and associated hedges Assisting in the day-to-day management of the SP&PC processes Assisting in managing existing risks (operational, credit, rates, etc.) on the book
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
Basic understanding of corporate finance and familiarity with illiquid credit products Previous work experience in structured finance desirable (e.g. including asset-backed lending, Infrastructure Finance, Project Finance, Real Estate finance, portfolio finance etc.). Strong numerical and analytical skills, including excel and financial modelling, along with critical thinking and logical approach to problem solving Good writing skills, including in the context of a transaction memorandum or in formal internal and external communication Can think on their feet, be proactive and spot opportunities to generate value for the firm, the franchise, and the team Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively in a dynamic environment Easily personable and capable of creating close relationships with external (e.g. clients) and internal (e.g. colleagues, IBD, sales, structuring, corporate functions) stakeholders
