Security Cloud Engineer
Location: Manchester, UK (Hybrid)
Day Rate: Market Rates (Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Overview
We are supporting a leading enterprise organisation in their search for an experienced Security Cloud Engineer to join their cloud security function on an initial 6-month contract. This role will focus on strengthening cloud security capabilities across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, driving secure cloud adoption, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native security best practices. Working closely with engineering and DevOps teams, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud platforms while supporting automation, governance, and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance secure cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver secure cloud services and architectures.
- Support the adoption of cloud-native applications and DevOps practices.
- Translate high-level and low-level designs into technical implementation plans.
- Build and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment.
- Automate cloud security processes, remediation activities, and operational workflows.
- Ensure cloud environments align with security, governance, compliance, and software lifecycle standards.
- Monitor cloud platforms using SIEM, cloud security, and observability tools.
- Support incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Work with containerised environments and infrastructure-as-code technologies.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms.
- Hands-on cloud security engineering experience within enterprise environments.
- Experience implementing cloud security controls and cloud-native security solutions.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Agile delivery.
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Java.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure from HLDs and LLDs.
- Knowledge of cloud security posture management tools such as Wiz Cloud, Wiz Defend, or similar.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, AKS, or GKE.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, or Chef.
- Strong understanding of IAM, RBAC, encryption, cloud governance, and access management.
- Experience working with Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments.
- Knowledge of SIEM platforms, incident response, and operational support processes.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working within regulated or financial services environments.
- Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
- CISSP or other recognised security certifications.
- Experience with cloud observability and monitoring platforms.
- Knowledge of security automation and remediation tooling.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud transformation programmes.

Skills
